Thermal Shock Chambers

Overview

Thermal shock testing is designed to identify latent weak points in test specimens by subjecting them to rapid temperature shifts between two extremes. Unlike standard temperature tests, thermal shock testing quickly transitions the specimen between hot and cold environments, simulating extreme thermal stress. This process uses preconditioned air in separate hot and cold chambers to create the temperature shock.

T3 offers two types of shock testing solutions: Vertical Thermal Shock and Horizontal Thermal Shock. These systems effectively replicate real-world conditions, ensuring the reliable detection of potential weaknesses in materials or components. By enabling rapid thermal transitions, thermal shock testing provides valuable insights for improving product durability and reliability.

  • Transition Rate: Under 10 seconds, with options for worm gear, pneumatic, and chain drive transition systems.
  • Recovery Time: Less than 5 minutes.
  • Size: Available starting at 2 ft³ and up.
  • Transition Options: Vertical or horizontal transition, depending on application and laboratory constraints.
  • Electronics & PCB: Testing the durability of electronic components and printed circuit boards.
  • Automotive: Assessing automotive components under extreme temperature variations.
  • Aviation: Ensuring aerospace parts and materials withstand rapid thermal changes.
  • Ceramics & Glass: Verifying the strength and thermal resistance of ceramic and glass materials.
  • MIL-810 & MIL-833 Standards: Testing in accordance with military standards for component durability.
  • ASTM Standards: Compliant with ASTM testing standards for material and component performance.
